jagerman asked:

china is the largest communist country, with a far worse human rights record than cuba. yet we still support the chinese economy, therfore their communist government. isn’t it about time we got rid of these outdated laws, that in the end, do much damage to the common people and have very little effect on the government they’re supposed to weaken.

  3. Pretty much, yeah. We’re hypocrites. With Cuba we’re proving a point. As long as communist china plays by our rules they get out sweatshop business.

  4. Look at the map. Notice that China is way, way over there, on the other side of the Pacific, while Cuba is within spitting distance of Florida.

Geography is pretty important when it comes to questions of national policy. Anyone who calls it hypocrisy isn’t paying attention.

  5. It’s a money thing, NOT a political thing. We don’t care what your politics are if we’re making money off of you. We also can’t bully them into change the way we think that we can with Cuba. Thank the government for yet another example of why I want to move to Canada.
