I am a marketing major and I have a strong interest to go to law school and eventually travel abroad. I’d like to begin learning a language in which I can possible work/live in the preceding country. Any suggestions or advice would great!

  1. Is there a reason for the “black female” part..does that have anything to do with the actual question… ?

  2. Japan is very modern, high tech, wonderful place to visit. It’s expensive though. However, Japan can be a very racist country though many won’t like to admit it. I have heard of blacks having a hard time in Japan.

I am not sure on China, as I haven’t studied Chinese culture or history. I know many Asians like to keep to themselves, as you notice if one Asian lives in a certain area of town, there are usually a few more.

Your best bet is to study each individual culture for a few days, ask people that have traveled there. Ask people from each.

As for the language, both are complex and take a lot of dedication. Japanese is comprised of three writing systems where Chinese has only Chinese characters. I think in writing, Japanese is easiest because it’s rules are simple to follow and you can use hiragana until you understand kanji.

    Good luck to you.

    Edit:
Because there are more Chinese speakers means nothing. A business doesn’t communicate with people based on speakers. For all we know, she could join a German-based company. If she works for a car company, Japanese is better off.

BTW, tu/td usually don’t work on choosing best answer.

  3. I highly recommend you start with Chinese, and later on learn Japanese.

  4. Chinese is spoken by more people in the world so it would be more helpful in business and things like that because you could communicate with more people without a translator.

  5. Neither. If your looking for an Asian language, then try learning Mandarin (which is the language Chinese people speak). For ease of living, though, and more likely love developments you might want to learn French or Spanish. I’m guessing there are a lot more black people living in France or any of the many other Spanish speaking countries than what you’d find in China.

  6. I recommend Chinese, because the Japanese are very racist (as racist as blacks actually)!
