John W asked:

Of the many things made in China, who thinks it’s wrong to buy an American Flag made in China?!!
Shouldn’t there be a law against such a thing?
And what representative in their right mind would vote no on a bill that would contain this?

  1. Welcome to America, home of the Brave, and land of the FREE! That’s the least of my worries right now.

  2. It’s a personal choice. You should never legislate against choice!

  4. there will never be a law against that because buying products from China save money for our lovely government…its cheaper because they dont have to pay as much, unlike here the would end up having to pay 4 times more and our government believes there are more important things to spend money on, like keeping the illegal immigrants in jail.

  6. I can think of lots of ways for the House of Representatives to waste their time, and this would be one of them.

  7. Although I would not buy a US flag that was made in China, it may not be possible to ban their sale in the US. The US signed trade agreements with a number of countries. It would violate these agreements to pass a law saying that US flags that are sold in the US must be made in the US.

  8. What, it should be illegal to manufacture a flag of another country? so if I want flags of all countries on my wall or desk, I have to go to each country or find someone that will?

If flags made here are better for your purposes, then there will be a market for them and people will make them. In a free market, it shouldn’t be hard for an American factory to say that their flags deserve a premium – that is simply capitalism and open markets.

If you want an American made flag, then find one and buy it. Vote with your dollars.

I will buy the one that is best for my needs and you do the same please.

  9. I would never vote for anyone who would vote ‘no’ for that law. While you might not personally have the desire to buy flags from other countries why should we force everybody to buy flags ONLY from the US? Isn’t the US supposed to be the land of the free? By being the land of the free, shouldn’t we stand by the principles of our founding fathers? I don’t think our founding fathers would be proud of us banning busniess- even if it is flag making.
