How to teach Chinese in high schoo in Texas?
I live in Garland, and majored in English in Taiwan.
now i am residental in Texas.
My father in law hopes i can teach Esl in elementery school.
but I don’t think my English is good enough.
perhaps, it is good to teach Chinese in the high school .
so, who can tell me how? I tried to email to Dcccd and Garland ISD, but didn’t get the answer.
oh, i have bachelor degree

  1. Have you contacted the county of education and the school districts? Try calling them or going to the offices. Do the schools in the area offer Chinese classes?

  2. First you must have a liscense or certificate to teach.
    You must apply to the school district that you are interested in teaching at. Meaning you must fill out an job application.
    You really should investigate this out alot more, find out if they even offer this language course.

  3. If you do not have a Texas Standard Teaching certificate, then you have to get one. There are many alternative certification programs available. One to look at: Texas Teachers. Check out their website: They are on file with the State Board of Education as an acceptable alternative certification program.
