  1. Put the money in a bank account. Use an ATM when you get to China to pull it out. That’s what I did last month. No problems. If you want to convert money when you get there, you need to find a “Bank of China.” There are many banks, but that is the only one that will convert for you.
The hotels that I went through will no longer convert money :(

    Have fun!

  3. LMAO….. RMB 10k is a tiny wad and really not “that” much to carry around.
100k and you need to be careful. 10k !? You’ll be fine as long as you don’t flash it around or keep it in your pockets. ( The pick pockets would be a legitimate concern). Many visitors from Hong Kong regularly carry around that amount even on short visits. As for the corrupt officials, 10k won’t be even be enough for bail if they really decide to pick on you.

  4. RMB10000 is not that much amount. However, be ware of pickpockets. If you go there as business trip, don’t take a bus.
Some guys use cutter and lift your wallet and cell phone.

If there is a PLUS mark in the back of your debit card, I think you can withdraw cash at local bank.

  5. Why cash? Find a bank that has direct connections like HSBC that way you can wire the money into the local HSBC bank. To carry that much cash in to China is like asking to be robbed.

You could put it in the lining of your carry on. You have to declare that much cash too.

    Good luck

  6. $10000 are you sure on the figures.

Ok first of your you can only legally bring into the country
6,000 RMB and then up to a maxinium in $5000 in other currently. Anymore and if your caught at customs they will take it off you.

If you worry about safety with it being stolen etc etc, you Can
bring it in traveller cheques, Althought these are safe, Iet then you get them you have to sign them first away and then again then you cash them in, plus if there stolen and you know the serial numbers they are replaced, plus travel cheques without the second sigurature are useless. The downside with traveler cheques in china is that you can only cash them in at 2 places, the hotel that your staying it (if it does cash in traveler cheques) and secondary the only bank that does cash them in is the Bank of China, no other bank is authosered to do so.

Oh the other hand if you have a gobal bank card, visa most cash points will let you withdraw from there machines, but the downside is that your card issuer will charge you for it.

Oh and don’t listern to others saying 10K in dollors is little, it is not for the average guy on the street in china that is like 3 years wages. If you do bring cash keep a max of up to 100 dollors in your wallet and then the rest hidden very safety like a money belt under your trousers or like wise. I think from that I have heard that kinfe robbings are up in Shenzhen, so just be carefull after dark.
