  4. They have made many many tragic mistakes, including heartbreaking famines, yet in hindsight I am more inclined to give them the benfeit of the doubt that these were more misguided judgements in ideology and lack of knowledge more than malice. I am not over looking the brutal grip on power and the paranoi of spies etc.
Thruogh more educated an cynical eyes I remember our “McCarthyism” I see how our government used propaganda and fear of commi’s to justify overthrowing dozens of elected governments, subverting democracy on many countries all through Latin America, South East Asia, and the middle East oh ya lets not forget the sorrows we inflicted on Africa and the Palistinians.
U.S. government had the CIA literialy ruining nations, training death squads etc. for the sole purpose of making them more business friendly to U.S. corporations and big business interests, with out doing one positive thing for any of the poeple.
Mostly privitzing the most basic needs that their governments were set up to supply, then American companies would jack prices and more than half, majority would find themselves out of the price range for electricity, water, you know the drill.
So if th Chineese wanted advice or help they could not turn to America, they could hear the rhetoric (much like just happened to Iraq and looks like gearing up for Iran.
If the asked for help from Russia, our “Dear Leaders” may have attacked siting collaboration.
Today I am much more inclined to believe our government was acting out of malice and the Chieese at that point were poor, afraid, misguided yet way more benign. Not that we will ever be allowed to hear their side of what was going on….Mary

  5. Are you insinuating that the Chinese Gov’t condones the abortion of female fetuses? Perhaps they need more men to serve in the Army or work in the factories and fields. Either way I applaud their approach to overpopulation. If you want more than 2 kids pay for them. If this happened in the U. S. perhaps there would be less people on the social services list.
