People keep saying how China’s economy is booming and growing at an expanatial rate. However if you research, China has very little in terms of health and safety laws that govern their businesses. My question is what would happen if China would have to enforce say laws like we have here in the USA. Example agencies would be OSHA and EPA.
When McDonalds opened in China years ago even they had to import the laws we follow here in the states for resturant ownership cause China’s laws were void in this area.
So my question is what would happen to China’s economy if it had to adopt health and safety laws like here in the states?
It would cost them a lot of money since they are a developing nation. Their economy might stagnant and leave hundreds of millions in poverty. It took the US decades to fully implement health & safety standards. It’ll be the same for China.
As for adopting higher wages, then jobs will just move to less developed nations such as Vietnam and countries in Africa.

Well everything would be better people would live longer and the products they out put would be better to name a few things

The cost of production would increase on all the products that they export. Production would have to move to the next great place where people work for even less, Africa.

You actually hit the nail on the head. Very good question.There is a big push to force China and India to do just that! Follow the standards the rest of the world use.China’s economy Will slow for sure.There are signs it is already doing that.Their inflation rate is hitting double digits.

Even where China is putting in pollution restrictions, they are still 5-50 times more polluting than the USA and EU. If they had to actually fair trade, jobs would either have to move back or go to even less developed areas such as Vietnam or Africa.

the growth rate would diminish for sure. maybe it’s time the US stopped importing from any country not up to “approved” standards.
