Looking for teaching jobs in China?

Alan B asked:

How do I find decent teaching jobs in China? Most of the webpages’ English translations are well over 12 months old, making the search more challenging. Mass link pages like “Dave’s List” are great, but they are almost exclusively elementary schools.

Thanks for any help in advance!

About me: I am 37 years old, a white male in very good health, and I am an experienced and licensed teacher in America. I also have a current law license. I prefer teaching at the university level. I am learning Putonghua, but I need to teach in English (for now). My preference is for teaching Law, Economics, and/or English, in that order, but I am also comfortable teaching Mathematics and History.

I took a Basic Chinese Law class at Renmin University for two months last summer, and I know that I am comfortable in Beijing, so my preference is to live there unless a position elsewhere pays significantly more.

Amanda P asked:

Please help me with this. I have do this project on the first two years of the people’s republic of china (1949-1951). Can someone tell me what kind of changes did the people have to go through when the people’s republic of china was formed in 1949? I already did tons of research on this, but I don’t understand the whole “communism” part. Please give me some information on the agrarian law, marriage reform, the three anti(s) reform, the five anti(s) reform, trade union law, anything that has something to do with the effect on people. By the way, what is collectivitation or something like that (related to communism)?

koiboy asked:

My parents-in-law are planning on bringing over some edible bird’s nest when they visit us from China next week. Does it need to be declared to U.S. Customs and is it a banned item since it technically comes from an animal? I don’t want the US Customs to confiscate it because it’s expensive stuff.

What is the legal basis for considering native Taiwanese persons to be ROC citizens?

Overseas E asked:

I notice that my friends from Taiwan carry passports of the Republic of China. However, my professor in international law studies said that there is no international legal basis to recognize native Taiwanese persons as Republic of China citizens. Is this true? What are the details?

According to what my professor said, the ROC military troops were entrusted with the authority for the military occupation of Taiwan after WWII, however there was never any transfer of sovereignty. Hence, technically speaking, the Taiwanese cannot be considered ROC citizens.

I am wondering if anyone can provide any further details. It seems like an exciting topic to me!
