booder0715 asked:

My parents are paying for our meal at mine and my fiance`s wedding. I want a buffet, because I see no point in spending so much extra for family style. I don’t care if we eat on plastic or china, but they really wanted china…so fine. I truly don’t care. But now they want family style, which is $5 extra per head. (our list is 320) It’s just dinner! how do i get them to see that it doesnt matter how its all done? its going to be fun no matter what! why pay so much extra for such a miniscule portion of the evening? Overseas E asked:

In a letter to Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA), dated June 5, 2007, Michael Kurtz, the Assistant Archivist for Records Services at the United States National Archives confirmed that the Cairo Declaration of Dec. 1, 1943, is neither a treaty nor an executive agreement, and as such does not carry the force of law to authorize any transfer of the territorial sovereignty of the areas of “Formosa and the Pescadores” to China. (Ref: http://www.fapa.org/Archives/press%20release%20061407.htm )

By extrapolation, neither the Potsdam Proclamation of July 26, 1945, nor the Japanese Surrender document of Sept. 2, 1945, which rely heavily on the provisions of the Cairo Declaration, can be considered as solid bases (which carry the force of law) to justify any claim of transfer of the territorial sovereignty of the areas of “Formosa and the Pescadores” to China.

So …. are there any true legal documents which prove that the Chinese exercise sovereignty over Taiwan??

When is the US going to get tough on China’s human rights record?

Steady As She Goes asked:

China executes more people than the rest of the world combined. The courts have >99% conviction rate, people on trial are frequently denied due process of law and people who are arrested are frequently tortured (“reeducated”). Groups such as Falun Gong and the people of Tibet are brutalized into submission. China also supports dictators in Africa and the Middle East. And yet the US turns a blind eye to all of this and looks only at the business it can do with China. When is the US going to wake up and get tough on the Chinese government over its human rights record?

I’m sure everyone watched the PBS special about murder in China.

Their laws require butchers to keep knives under lock and key to prevent people from stealing weapons to commit murders.

Please consider the long term effects before you rush to give away the Constitution.
