I am half Chinese/half Caucasian. When she’s angry (like if I make a mistake) she’ll start insulting the Chinese, terms too nasty to type here, or making fun of my mixed race, like a “mongrel”… at times like this I just ignore her, because I don’t want to fight, but it riles me up inside and stresses me out!! (Oh, and she is always saying ignorant things about other nationalities too… I don’t know why she’s so hateful..)

Why is the middle east a shadow of its former glory?
Back then, it was the cradle of civilization, a center of comerce, trade, philosophy(along with greece). The first codes of law were written here. Many advances in medicine, astronomy, mathematics and many other sciences were made during the middle ages. Islam had nothing to do with these. If it did, they would be as lousy as medieval Europeans. The same thing were done in china and india, though maybe at an earlier time, but much of these developments were independent from china and india.
So, why is the middle east all crappy now? The mongols did end the abbadsid dynasty, a rich period of for everything, though i doubt thats all to it.

I am an American wife living with my husband’s family in China. How can I adapt to survive?
Despite that living with in-laws is hard for many normal Chinese families, my husband still wants the waters to be calm all the time and it seems impossible. My father in-law and I suddenly have problems, partly because I lost some respect for him when I heard him verbally abuse my mother in-law, calling her stupid, and I love her dearly as does my husband. But strangely, nobody else in the house even noticed. I couldn’t help losing some respect for him, and it would be normal in America to wait for an opportunity to regain that respect, i.e., if he said sorry to her or showed some regret at all that he hurt her. But here, of course my husband expects me to be totally respectful all the time, because respect is based on position, not give and take. But all he would do when we brought it up is get defensive. How can I change my own cultural nature enough to adapt and survive, or should I?

Is President Bush right in denying China’s. his freedom?
Is President Bush right in denying China’s Emperor and head of state in exile any right to Secret Service protection and other things guaranteed under the law?
1. The Imperial family fled China in 1871, during the time of Manchurian reign in mainland China.
2. They (the family) are political exiles, who would be killed if they were returned to mainland China.
3. Question: Should we disallow China’s Emperor’s stay in this country and force his return to mainland China? From what we have observed, President Bush seems to think so!
President Bush has REFUSED official recognition and thereby has disallowed Secret Service protection for China’s Emperor’s temporary stay in our nation.
Question: Is President Bush right in his handling of this matter?

If China attacks Taiwan, will America help defend Taiwan?
As many of you know, on March 14th. 2005 the 10th National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China passed the “Anti-Secession Law “.
This law, authorizes the PLA (People’s liberation army) to attack any part of China that declares Independence.
This is mainly focused on Taiwan, who seeks to officially declare Independence from Communist China.
America currently has a defense treaty with Taiwan, in witch it promises to defend Taiwan from aggressive action.
Will America honor this agreement, if China declares war on ROC?
If so, would this invoke NATO, as a member of it’s alliance is at war?
This is a serous question- if you can not refrain from childish remarks ‘D M’ please do not comment.
The PRC has repeatedly threatened to invade if Taiwan ever declares formal independence, and has sought to intimidate voters in Taiwan through activities such as test-firing missiles across Taiwan’s northern coast just before the 1996 elections and at times when subjects such as constitutional reform have been discussed.
The missiles exploded just 12 miles from Taiwan’s largest trading ports.
But what about countries that can not defend themselves, that are friendly to America and the West Bender?
We can’t just leave Taiwan to it’s fate- they need us, America just isn’t the type of nation to refuse to help those in need.
Besides, Taiwan is important to the regional sphear of influence- if China annexes Taiwan, Japan will no longer be the dominant Asian political power in Asia- Communist China will be.
This could be history repeating itself- it’s 1934 all over again, China is Germany and it wants to anax countries that where once part of China.
Taiwan, north Vietnam, Tibet- we can’t win though appeasement, Chamberlain taught us that.

Help-via protecting from a foreign military power- not solve it’s political structure.
China and Russia also Vetos anything America brings to the table, if it wasn’t for them Darfur would be taken care of.
America is only one country- it can’t solve every issue in the world on it’s own.

G.T.
Taiwan is internationally recognized as a legitimate, and independent nation by every country excluding China.
Where do you pull that it’s part of China?
Taiwan was once part of Nationalist China, but it dissolved, and what remained fled to Taiwan.

How can I teach English in another country?
Im thinking about taking a year off before I apply to law school so I can see a little culture before spending the rest of my life with my nose in the books.
How can I teach English in a foriegn country for preferably one year while making enough to support myself.
I dont speak any other languages, will this prevent me from doing this? I heard of Americans going to China without speaking abit of Chinese and teaching over there.
