My sister-in-law is having a bridal shower. She is also having a traditional Chinese wedding. Is there a special gift I can give for her bridal shower? I don’t know where she is registered.

Get her Kim chi. (I think that’s how you spell it.) Oh, wait, nevermind, that’s Korean. Get her a beautiful waving fan. Wait, is that Japanese? I don’t know.

You can go to ANY Pier 1 imports and buy a tea set. Tea is VERY important in the Japaneese and Chinese lifestyle. Try to get something without any words…unless you can tell the difference between chineese and japaneese. Just something pretty. Rice bowl set is good too.
Another good idea is a Zen table fountain. Wal-mart is now carrying these. They promote peace and tranquility in the home.

” The most common Chinese wedding gift is cash wrapped in red envelope, also named Li Shi money. Check is acceptable, of course. However, if you are not a close relative or friends, go ahead and buy any gift you think is appropriate. Whatever you buy, do not give the couple a FAN as gift since the pronunciation of fan is “san”, which means “disperse” in Chinese, thus considered a bad omen.”

Depending on how close you are to the bride, you should get her the typical bridal shower gift of some naughty toys. It’ll make for a fun honeymoon!
