Maria asked:

I got in an argument with my mother-in-law because she didn’t want a friend of ours going to China because, “Remember, they still drown babies in China.” I laughed and said it was ridiculous. What’s the deal?

  1. China is known for eating babies. Seriously, sometimes they take babies that have died and cook them. In China, it’s a expensive dish. I dont think they kill the baby just for food thou, they just cook babies that have died.

The United States kills babies too thou. Thats basically what abortion is.

  2. If you are BORN AND LIVE IN CHINA and you have 2 kids or more they will kill all the kids except for one only because it is over populated.

If she is going there just to visit then all is well.

  4. If you have more than one child you have to pay higher taxes. There is social pressure not to have more than one child. In poorer areas, there is a desire to have a male child. Because of this female fetuses are aborted at higher rates, and, very rarely, killed after birth.

The Chinese are very aware of this social evil. But without the one-child policy, China’s population would be very high. People would die in famines. There is resentment among the poor that the rich (or even middle-class) can just afford to pay the higher taxes and have more children. It’s a very difficult problem to solve. It’s one of the reasons that wealthy American families have been adopting babies from rural China instead of other poor areas.
