I am being picked up at the Beijiing airport by the daughter of my father in law’s friend in China. She is giving me a ride to my hotel as a favor for her father and I know it is a couple hours out of her way. I have never met her but I know she is in her late 20’s and is fairly well off, she works in marketing for IBM. Any ideas for a gift to bring her from America? Half the stuff I look at is made in China so I would feel kind of rude giving her something she could pick up in a local market for cheap.
they have everything in china. what is the price range you are willing to spend? American Ginseng is pretty good.

good chocolate or wine… like you said, she is financially well off… so anything delicate and pretty would be suitable.

i brought my, now wife, a book of the area of the united states when i first went to china. she was very interested in the pictures. also, any pictures are good. Chinese are big on family, culture and history. and yes Wisconsin gin sing is very popular in china.

I have multiple sister-in-laws, nieces, etc. in China, and they always like when I bring over cosmetics. Facial serums/creams, as well as make-up–especially the long-wearing lipsticks. Clinique, Lancome, Chanel, or even Revlon and Maybelline are good choices depending on your budget. You are right to avoid stuff labeled “Made in China.”
