Cuba is not America.

Same old republicain dirty tricks lies, fear and accusations. Have ya bought a new swiftboat or something? Do you think after 8 years of bush league economics americans will fall for your lies again. Give it up. The days of your tax free living are over rich girl time to pay for the rights others have died to earn for you in bushs war.

American “government”, Democrats and Republicans, has become dependent on the next world power–China.

Well we should be looking for other methods of energy anyway. Our dependency on oil is ridiculous, especially since it’s going to run out soon and other countries know this. Look at the UAE, they’ve already began to brace for it by beginning to change their main source of income from oil to tourism.

I see this as the old conservation debate getting completely tangled up in today;s oil price realities.
Conservation, of course, has great merit on the hill. When oil prices were less than today, there was little sacrifice to the notion of protecting potential harm in the environment from pollution caused by an oil spill.
This is now totally changed, and, conservationists are smack dab in the middle of a really hot oil situation.
I would expect this to change in the next year or two, but, if Democrats stay in power in Congress, and, gain the white house, this could become a bigger issue as time goes by, and fodder for Republicans seeking office in 2010 and beyond..

Your post is a bit deceptive
Cuba can do anything off it’s coast it pleases, so can America, Even your link states American businesses were offered to drill but American policy bars doing business with Cuba. Current policy is wielded by a republican administration not democrats.
Most countries with a coastline have a 200 exclusionary zone with mineral rights.
It appears to me Republicans hate America with illegal warmongering, Deceptive and isolationist policies, Allowing businesses with government contracts to move offshore to evade taxation, overpaying illegal merceneraries while soldiers and marines are grossly undercompensated, blocking taxation on huge oil profits, refusing to fund alternative enrergy projects, not prosecuting large companies that employ illegal workers and squandering America’s wealth.
