pompanopete0 asked:

I recently saw a news piece about making it law that we dont import US flags that are “made in china”, I agree

But then I noticed how many “products” that I have that are “made in china”, I understand lower labor costs make big profits etc. But my “Officially Licensed” Sports Attire. I remember when we took pride in Ford being American, now it too has fallen victim to the “foreign labor is cheaper blues”

What I’m confused about is that we seem to be “trading” profusely with countries that historically hates us, can anyone explain? Boycott or pressure our Lawmakers?

I inherited a bunch of great stuff from my mother-in-law but so much of it is stained. Would love to be able to use it but it really needs a touch up first. Any ideas? Have tried just washing it but that’s not enough.

Can anyone identify a china pattern based on description only?

Elizabeth G asked:

I’m hoping to buy some replacement pieces for my mother-in-law as a Xmas gift, and though I’ve eaten on her dinnerware many times (including this past Thanksgiving) I neglected to check the back for the name of the pattern. So, here’s what it looks like: Plates are CREAM colored and rather heavy and thick. They have PINK flowers in the center (not just on the rims). These flowers have a “brushy” painted look & have few petals (more like a dogwood flower, not at all like a rose or peony). The plates are rather deep and bowl-like, as opposed to being shallow. Knowing my mother-in-law, these are probably NOT an expensive set…probably something she bought in the 1960’s and likely discontinued. Well, does it sound like anything you’ve seen? Thanks for any and all help!!!!!

Should there be a Law Prohibiting People from having more kids?

MandB asked:

Like in China they have a 1 kid Policy.
However we all live on the same planet and have excceded the 5 Billion mark (are over 6 billion) which the United Nations have said is a maximum sustainable level.
its not even about food, its about space, housing, consumption of NON-Renuwable resources, and Pollution (air and other pollution)
Also what about people who have kids on welfare, shouldnt there be laws that if you cannot afford to have kids you shouldnt be allowed to have them?
Looking for Input by intelligent people, having too many kids is being SELFISH. (its even selfish against your own kids since every birth makes life harder on those already born and in 20 years will be a real problem when all todays born kids start looking for houseing/jobs/clean air)
haveing LOTS of kids is SELFISH becuase you are only thinking of yourself wanting kids – NOT of the rest of the world and the impact of those extra people.
People are NOT dying as fast as they used to, people are living longer, if this were not true our population would be leveling instead of growing.
What about welfare people who cannot afford their own kids?

Do you think it is very unwise to move ALL our chemical plants to China and India?

stevers1 asked:

I’m chairman of a local Chemical Networking group, and our US profession is being devastated by outsourcing all the chemical plants to India and China. Over 50 plants are being shut down and moving out of the country. We would never be able to fight a war without chemicals especially because China and India would never support us in a time of conflict. Not to mention the devastation of US chemists who are now out of work. Also China and India have very lax enviornmental laws, so they can pollute the enviornnment very easily and save money that way. Don’t you think this is a disgraceful and distructive policy to allow this happen?

star runner asked:

I was a member of some communist organizations back in the 1970s and 1980s. Today the only country I can look to is Red China even if they aint so red any more. How can I support them? I’m thinking of going ahead and getting a law degree so I can represent them against Americans trying to sue their companies. But I can exactly get into Harvard Law school, but maybe there are some smaller firms that will take what they can get?

Do the Taiwanese people understand that Taiwan territory does not belong to the Republic of China?

Coordinates-TW asked:

In 1895, “Formosa and the Pescadores” (aka Taiwan) were ceded to Japan in the Treaty of Shimonoseki. In 1912 when the Republic of China was founded, Taiwan was part of Japan.

None of the Allies recognized any “transfer of sovereignty” to the ROC on the date of Oct. 25, 1945. The proclamation of “Taiwan Retrocession Day” , thus indicating a clear intention and objective to annex Taiwan territory, is a war crime.

Article 4 of the ROC Constitution specifies that “The territory of the Republic of China within its existing national boundaries shall not be altered except by a resolution of the National Assembly.” In regard to the alleged incorporation of Taiwan into Chinese territory, there is no resolution of the National Assembly on record.

Under the customary laws of warfare, upon the surrender of Japanese troops the local populace in Taiwan will pass under a “temporary allegiance” to the conqueror, which in the post-Napoleonic era will be the principal occupying power.
